Graba, a former officer of the Polish Army staff and a merchant in civilian life, lives in Opole. Taking advantage of his poverty and the serious illness of his daughter, the Abwehr first allows him to engage in minor smuggling, and then blackmails him into cooperation. He doesn’t know that Polish counterintelligence warned them. While looking for a plug in the Wrocław Abwehr, Czarek, earlier than Graba, recognizes the Germans’ intentions towards him and encourages him to play the role of a double agent. He receives Polish headquarters documents from his former colleague from the Polish Army, Grab, and gives them to the liaison with the Abwehr, Major Zimmer. Even though a beautiful Abwehr agent, Elsa Gurke (Szarotka), watches Graba’s every move, he manages to confirm the trust of the Wrocław cell of German intelligence. In Berlin, Major Seebohm is happy, but something about the case worries Lieutenant Relke.
