Jean-François Gagnon is an outstanding rider and organizer of western competitions in the small municipality of Vaillancourt. Married to the daughter of the mayor of the place, with whom he has two young children, he owns a stable where he breeds and trains horses. Esteemed and loved by all, he nevertheless hides a very dark secret. He is not at all who he says he is. An unfortunate incident forces him to make an impulsive action and will cause him to lose his means. Which will lead to the visit of a man named Chamberland and will allow us to discover his true background. Jean-François is a repentant criminal, but, to the great dismay of his controller, he has lost notion of the danger that awaits him. He exposes himself too much.
